Project to
be funded:
New equipment to fully equip our new rescue truck,
which was made possible to our department through this grant process in 2002. We would also like to purchase enough SCBA’s for each member of our department.
Use of
grant monies:
The grant monies will be used in the following manner: $45,420 for the purchase of fire fighting equipment
and $52,200 will go towards personal protective equipment.

Why this grant is needed for the
purchase of fire fighting and personal protective equipment:
Wingo Fire Department operates solely on donations,
fund raisers, and state grant money. Our annual contributions average $14,000
in donations, $7,000 through fund raisers, $8,250 in state grants and $2,000
from the fiscal courts budget surplus. With an annual income of $31,250 to
operate with, we cannot purchase the needed equipment.
Budget Items:
Utilities $1825.00
Repairs $2450.00
Maintance $3200.00
Equipment $2500.00
PPE $2250.00
EMS Equip. $ 500.00
Office Sup. $ 800.00
Training $2500.00
Truck Payment $8250.00
Dispatch Fee $3000.00

Considering a major breakdown of any of our equipment, we will depleat our balance, plus borrow money to continue
operation. Equipment failures such as a 1000 gpm
pump, $15,000 to $20,000 to replace, fire engine motor, $10,000 to replace, ect. If we do encounter one of these problems, we will have
to cut back our budget to make the loan payment.

income is from donations from our residents. The amount we collect in donations
versus the population equal about $3.11 per person or $9.65 per household.
